Meet our Director
Peggy Disunno

From the moment Peggy DiSunno stepped down from the chorus risers and out in front of our chorus in 2002, she created a very happy and loving environment for the members of Long Island Sound Chorus! This very healthy relationship has grown and prospered under Peggy’s direction, to a higher level of musical education and commitment for both Peggy and her loving chorus members.

Peggy studied Elementary Education at SUNY Fredonia and received her Master’s Degree from SUNY Stony Brook. Peggy is now a retired school teacher, although, that being said, she hardly has retired from teaching! She was born to teach! Her natural abilities to learn quickly, have aided her (and the chorus) with her never ending energy to teach the chorus new ways to become smarter and better singers! In March of 2006, after a rigorous process of studying, and a series of tests, (and with quite an impressive score), Peggy received the well earned designation of "Certified Director". We are so thrilled for Peggy and her accomplishments. In the 2006 chorus competition, her reward was even greater when the chorus improved a very impressive 99 points over the previous year’s scores! It was quite a thrill for both Peggy and the chorus!

As if she didn’t have enough to do with just her chorus, our "Miss Peggy" is also quite active on the regional level, where she has shared her multiple talents as our Regional Team Coordinator since 2003, and is planning to continue for another term! How lucky for our region to have such a natural born leader guiding their future with her very caring & loving hands at the "helm!"

Peggy has been a member of our chorus since 1975, but her musical love of singing four part harmony began when she was in high school as part of a "Junior" Sweet Adelines chorus. Peggy had fun performing in the local Sweet Adelines chapter’s shows. At that time she sang bass in the high school quartet, but has been singing baritone (and loving it) ever since!

Peggy is married to her high school sweetheart and they have just celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary! They have three children and five grandchildren, all who love music!
